Zobahan Stay Clear of Chasing Pack – IPL Round-up (Week 10)

TEHRAN- (Iran Sports Press): Zobahan have maintained their 3 point lead at the top of IPL table after the conclusion of week 10 of Iranian Pro league.

Playing at home in Esfehan, Zobahan beat their visitors Pegah 2-0, with two first half strikers by Amir Vaziri (26, 37).

Pas kept up the pressure on Zobahan after beating Fajr in a thrilling match in Tehran Shahid Dastgerdi Stadium. Javad Nekounam put the home side ahead in the 5th minute, but Fajr levelled the scores 4 minutes later through Siavash Akbarpour. It was Pas again which took the lead for the second time in the match when Reza Rezaei-kamal scored in the 22nd minute. Fajr reply was quick, and they equalised in the 28th minute through Mehrzad Madanchi. The game was finally decided when Arash Borhani scored the third goal for Pas in the second half. The game finished 3-2.

In Tehran Azadi Stadium, Esteghlal recovered from 0-2 down at half time to level the match 2-2 by the full time whistle against Peykan. Mohammad Ali Ebrahimian scored in the 25th and 37th minute to put Peykan 2-0 ahead. Ali Samereh pulled one back for Esteghlal in 53rd minute, and the comeback was completed by the same player who equalised after 58 minutes. Peykan were reduced to 10 men with 30 minutes still left on the clock when Davoud Haghdoost was sent off, but a combination of poor finishing by Esteghlal players and great goal keeping by Peykan’s Mehdi Vaezi meant the game finished 2-2.

In Noshahr, Ali Daei’s 10th goal of the season was enough to give Perspolis a 1-0 away victory against Shamoushak, and push the Reds back up to third in the table. Daei’s goal came in the 67th minute, following a corner. Both Perspolis and Shamoushak had put the ball in the back of the net before Daei’s goal, but they had been ruled out by the referee.

Sepahan, the current IPL Champions, were beaten by Esteghlal Ahvaz in Takhti Stadium of Ahvaz. Afshin Komaei (30) and Alireza Rezaei (90) scored for Nasser Hejazi’s team. The game finished 2-0 for Ahvaz.

Bargh and Aboumoslem played a 1-1 draw in Shiraz Hafezie Stadium. Aboumoslem took the lead in the 14th minute when Iman Razzaghi scored, but Alireza Abbasifard equalised for the home team on the stroke of half time.

Saipa and Foulad struggled to a 0-0 draw in Tehran’s Shiroudi Stadium.

Zobahan stays top of the IPL table with 21 points from 10 games, 3 points clear of Pas following the completion of week 10 games. Perspolis, Esteghlal and Foulad are one point behind, all on 17 points. Saipa and Shamoushak are in the bottom two places with 5 and 9 points respectively.
