The 2007 Iranian champions have appointed the 48 year-old to take over from Ali Daei who left for the national team.
Littbarski was fired earlier this month by Japanese club Avispa Fukuoka after mediocre results saw the Kysuhu outfit languishing in the lower reaches of the second tier.
The 1982 and 1986 World Cup star has signed a one-year contract with the club who are also in the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League.
“He is a good coach for our team. He is familiar with Japanese and Australian football,” a club official told ISNA agency.
“He immediately started working with the team and this will help the players.”
