Iran breaks javelin world record

Mohammad Reza Mirzaei breaks world record in the men's javelin throw to earn another gold medal for Iran at Beijing Paralympic Games.

Mirzaei placed first in the F57/58 class with 1052 points on Tuesday. His 40.84-meter throw during the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games set a new world record.

Egypt's Mahmoud Ramadan Elattar grabbed the silver at the contest with 1035 points and Rostislav Pohlmann of Czech Republic won the bronze medal with 1027 points.

Abdolreza Jokar earned a silver medal in the F53/54 class of the men's javelin throw. Another Iranian, Javad Hardani, claimed a bronze medal in the F38 class javelin of the event.

Over 4,000 athletes from 150 countries are participating in the 13th Paralympic Games from September 6th to the 17th in Beijing.
