The Iranian athlete lost to Korean contender Choi Min-Ho in the under-60 kg category in his second game on Saturday morning.

Haji Akhondzadeh defeated his Slovenian rival in his first game early Saturday. Akhondzadeh later lost in his next contest, and lost any hope of a Bronze medal.

After being knocked out, Akhondzadeh told reporters "I was happy with the weather conditions here, and the humidity didnt affect me at all. However, I had to lose a lot of weight to meet the weight criteria for this division, and my body seemed weak as a result".

Some 32 judo fighters have participated in the judo competition.

Iran has sent 55 athletes to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
