Mick McDermott replaced Alireza Mansourian and appointed interim Esteghlal coach

(IranSportsPress.com-TehranTimes)- Esteghlal assistant coach Michael “Mick” McDermott has been appointed as interim head coach of the Iranian club.

The 43-year-old coach replaced Alireza Mansourin in the Iranian popular football team.

McDermott will head Esteghlal in the match against Sepidrood Rasht.

Mansourian stepped down as his role on Wednesday after disappointing results in Iran Professional League.

McDermott began his work in Iran as fitness coach in Team Melli in 2011 but after one year joined Al Nasr of the UAE as an assistant coach.

The Northern Irish coach returned to Iran in 2016 as Esteghlal assistant coach.
