ISP: Week 1 – Day 1

Luka Bonacic is back in Ahvaz and he fielded this team, 4-4-1-1, Bahadorani; Ahmadi, Alavi, Kameli, Mojiri; Hamoodi, Abolheil, Sarlak, Shirzad; Rahmani, Hamidi

***

Bahadorani the Foolad keeper got injured late in the first half and had to be subbed off for Ashena. The only problem was that Ashena also was injured and didn’t really want to come on…

***

Javad Shirzad (once a candidate for left-back in Team Melli) will go to the books as the first scorer of the ninth league.

***

Who scored the second? No one remembers the runner-up do they? Iman Heydari won’t go to the books for his first goal this season but he will try to fill the space for Zarei who left for Persepolis. Heydari scored eleven goals last season for Peykan and now he’s up and running. Zarei and Haghi together scored 20!

***

Brandts (new Rahahan coach who came from NAC Breda) got off to a winning start. Rahahan 2-1 Foolad.

***

Left-footed Zaynadpour who came together with Iman Heydari will have a key role in the Rahahan offence this year. What a cracker of a shot he has, the crossbar is still wobbling…

***

Bakhtiar Rahmani is promising but he needs to score from two feet!

***

Last season had a record number of goals scored in the league. The 18 teams averaged 2,55 goals per game. Turkey (Turkcell Super Lig) averaged the same, though a few season back they were averaging 3 goals per game. Anyhow the first round of last season only had 13 goals scored. This year started of with a cracking nine goals in two games. Does that mean this year’s league is going to break another record?

***

Mes Kerman-Persepolis was end-to-end stuff. What a game!

***

4-2-3-1 will be popular this year, (Mes Kerman), Mohammadi; Zarei, Ghorbani, Ensafi, Maniei; Hossein Khani, Ashoobi; Rajabzadeh, Sayfi, Edinho; Samereh.

New Persepolis coach Kranjcar also opted for a 4-2-3-1. (Persepolis), Memarzadeh; Mohammad, Sheys, Shiri, Akbari; Ali Asgari, Bagheri; Badamaki, Bao, Zarei; Nourozi.

***

Sheys really isn’t a central defender. Kranjcar should have played him next to Bagheri and instead played Sepehr in central defence. Was Ali Asgari really playing?

***

Bao wasn’t seen this weak all season long last year, this international week break is going to be really useful for the no-preseason Persepolis team. Seven potential starters didn’t even travel to Kerman!

***

Have a look at Nourozis first goal. Sheys is taking a free kick from 30m out. Two players are standing in the wall. Five defenders in the box against four attackers. Three of the defenders pick one attacker each to mark. The two remaining defenders are just standing there and looking at the unmarked Nourozi scoring the first goal of the game.

***

How many penalty-kicks during normal time did Persepolis miss last year? Was it four? Must have been at least four. Add another two that Sheys missed today and you got more than a handful. Who’s up next? My vote goes to Bao!

***

The penalty re-take call was fair but would Mes also re-take it if Memarzadeh had cheated the way Mohammadi did?

***
Samereh tried to score with a bicycle-kick just the way he did a couple of season ago with Esteghlal. A few years back a pre-season bicycle-kick goal earned him a start in San Siro against Inter (Inter 4-1 Perugia).

***

Mehdi Shiri should be blamed for giving away the 3-2 lead. His tackle was so not necessary. Edinho is one of the better free-kick takers in the league (who’s the best?) and he sure took full advantage, what a brilliant goal!

***

It’s the fourth week of the 2008/2009 season. Mes Kerman is hosting Esteghlal and Edinho is stepping up to take a free kick from 20 meters or so. Puts it over the wall and smashes it onto the crossbar.

***

You see my point? Persepolis has had four different head coaches in less than one year. With some consistency they just might have the chance of taking notes of the opponents strengths and weaknesses and even break it down to details. Such as how to deal with set pieces. Everyone knew where Edinho would shoot, everyone but those who are new to Kerman. Abedzadeh needs to step up his game. A professional coach these days does much more work outside the field than he does on it!

***

You are probably thinking who hasn’t been a candidate for left-back in Team Melli, right?

***

Mes Kerman 3-3 Persepolis. Did I say it was end-to-end stuff?

***

Is Jalal Akbari “black-listed” or what?
