ISP Editorial: Saman Ghoddos to play behind Rubin Kazan striker Sardar Azmoun? Saman Ghoddos followed up his MVP performance against Galatasaray with another one against PAOK scoring twice and taking Östersund to its first historical Europa League.

Ghoddos lately playing mostly as striker for his club but the big question is where does Carlos Queiroz want to play Ghoddos? Saman himself prefers to play the behind striker’s role  but he can play in any offensive position on the field.

As we talk Sardar Azmoun is Team-Melli’s first choice upfront. Mehdi Taremi with his work ethic is often used on the left by the Portuguese mastermind and on the right Iran perhaps has the best right winger of the Eredivise,  Alireza Jahanbakhsh. The only remaining spot is  behind the striker position. If the World Cup would have been started tomorrow Ashkan Dejagah and Masoud Shojaei might probably stand no chance to Ghoddos who is on fire and playing his best football.

Team Iran would perfectly suit Ghoddos’s football style as he can play linkup football with Azmoun, Jahanbakhsh and Taremi, also come from behind and be a threat with his furious long distance shot. However World Cup is not tomorrow and  lot of things will happen by then. Three years ago Carlos Quieroz opted for three defensive central midfielders against Nigeria, can Ghoddos change his mind in Russia 2018?
