(IranSportsPress.com-TehranTimes)- Iran claimed the title of the Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championship in New Delhi, India on Sunday.
The Iranian team won three gold medals, one silver and four bronzes in the competition, sealing the title with 71 points.
Japan came second with 55 points and Uzbekistan finished in third place with 49 points.
Behnam Ehsanpour won a gold medal in the 61kg weight class after defeating Han Song Kim from North Korea.
Alireza Mohammad Karimi seized a gold beating Uzbekistan’s Azamat Dauletbekov in 86kg.
Yadollah Mohammadkazem Mohebi grabbed Iran’s third gold after defeating Sumit from India in the 125kg weight category.
Hossein Shahbazi bagged a silver, being defeated by Magomed Ibragimov from Uzbekistan in the 97kg.
Reza Atri (57kg), Meisam Nassiri (65kg), Hamed Houshang Rashidi (70kg) and Bahman Teymouri (74kg) won four bronze medals in the event.
Iran’s Greco-Roman team had already won the title in the competition with 69 points, taking four gold medals, one silver and two bronzes.
The 2017 Asian Wrestling Championships were held at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, Indira Gandhi Arena, New Delhi in India from May 10 to May 14.
