IPL Week 7th: Sepahan, Persepolis share the spoils, Esteghlal held by Zob Ahan [VIDEO]

 

(IranSportsPress.com-Tasnim)- Persepolis was held to a 2-2 draw by Sepahan of Isfahan in an exciting match in Iran Professional League (IPL) on Thursday.

Mehdi Taremi put the visiting team into the lead in the 39th minute from the penalty spot.

Marwan Hussain equalized the match with a header just seconds after the hour mark.

Soon after, Persepolis dominated the match and Ali Alipour scored Persepolis’ second goal in the 74th minute.

With five minutes remaining, Jalaleddin Alimohammadi found the back of the Persepolis’ net with a long-range shot.

Persepolis remains second in IPL table with 14 points and Sepahan is 12th with seven points from seven matches.

Furthermore, Siahjamegan suffered a 1-0 home defeat to rock bottom Gostaresh Foolad and Esteghlal Khuzestan and Sepidrood Rasht played out a goalless draw.

Esteghlal football team was held to a 1-1 draw by Zob Ahan on Wednesday.

In the match held at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Rouzbeh Cheshmi gave the Blues a lead in the 12th minute. It was Esteghlal’s second goal after seven weeks in IPL.

Zob Ahan reacted to the goal and put Esteghlal under pressure. The visiting team finally broke Esteghlal’s resistance and Mohammad Nejadmahdi found the back of the net in the 78th minute.

Esteghlal sits 14th in the table and Zob Ahan is fourth with 10 points, six points behind IPL leader Pars Jonoubi.
