FIFA, AFC demand answers from china

FIFA and the AFC want answers to questions regarding irregularties in the league, including reports of “faked matches, black whistles (corrupt referees) and betting,” the Beijing Times reported.

An October 21 letter also seeks an explanation of a walk out by Beijing Guoan in a super league match against Shenyang Jinde on October 2, in which Guoan threatened to pull out of the league due to officiating irregularities, the paper said.

“As an important member of the Asian Football Confederation’s ‘Asian Prospects Plan, the AFC has expressed shock at the order of China’s professional league,” the paper said, citing the joint letter. The embattled CFA was further embarrassed on Sunday when Dalian Shide players stormed off the pitch in a match also against Shenyang after an alleged refereeing blunder.
